The 2021 release of the Air Jordan 6 Carmine is a rerelease of the shoe that was originally sold in 1991. The sneaker originally was created in Michael Jordan’s ’91-’92 championship season. The Air Jordan 6 Carmine showcases Chicago Bull’s signature team colours of black white and red.
This sneaker’s distinctive colourway was the first of its kind to have the colour blocking on the upper part of the shoe. The placement of the colours on the shoe demonstrates the perfect contrast of the white and red as the upper is constructed using a mixture of textiles, both leather and nubuck. Moving to the heel panel of the shoe, it is finished with the Nike Air logo embroidered in red to continue the contrast against the white panel, this is a change from the 1991 version of the shoe as the previous release embroidered the Jumpman logo on the heel.
The colour black is also used to break up the red and white sneaker through the tongue of the shoe, heel tab, branding on the lace lock and a segment of the midsole. The midsole also exhibits the air bubble used for cushioning on the shoe, incorporating the iconic Air technology for this basketball sneaker. Finally, the outsole of the Air Jordan 6 Carmine is mostly translucent, staying true to the signature Air Jordan 6 design.
This niche classic paved the way for following colour way releases as the bold and creative design of this sneaker stood its ground in the sneaker and basketball world.
