If the Yeezy 350 silhouette isn’t your style, don’t worry. The Yeezy 700 is here to save the day. With its chunky ‘dad shoe’ aesthetic, this sneaker is the perfect addition to your collection.
The Yeezy 700 silhouette is instantly recognisable, with all 4 versions being sported in many different colourways. Beginning back in 2017, the silhouette of this sneaker is Kanye’s version of the ultimate dad shoe. The first version of the Yeezy 700 consists of a chunky midsole, thick laces and a plush layered upper that gives an intricate design detail.
Kanye’s shift to a new version of a lifestyle shoe is reflected in the release of the Yeezy 700 ‘Wave Runner’. This shoe displayed a change in dynamic as this silhouette gives off more of a luxurious and premium lifestyle sneaker. Kanye also created distinction between his previous sneakers that had been released in neutral colours by adding vivid accent colours that are featured on the midsole of the shoe, which adds a nice touch of uniqueness to the shoe.
Of course, the Yeezy 700 V1 was not released in just one colour, Kanye also released this shoe in multiple other colours; Mauve – a more neutral toned shoe with neon yellow accents, Salt – a muted sage green tone and finally, Inertia – a pale blue monochrome vibe with coral accents. These colourways all have the hit of vibrancy however, later released Yeezy 700 V1 colourways sometimes lack this distinctive feature.
Alongside the V1, Yeezy 700 V2 was shortly released. The Yeezy 700 V2 holds a slightly different design, with a combination of leather, woven mesh, and 3M accents on the upper, whereas the Yeezy 700 V1 does not have the 3M accent and only holds a standard mesh material compared to the Yeezy 700 V2. The colourways of the Yeezy 700 V2 retreat back into Kanye’s usual style and colour palettes as they do not display the bight accents on the midsole and instead were created with very minimalist colourways that allow the sneaker’s silhouette to shine and compliment the 3M component of the upper.
The next stage of evolution in the Yeezy 700 series is the V3. This shoe takes on a completely new aesthetic and gives off a futuristic vibe to the shoe. The Yeezy 700 V3 presents a progressive style of sneaker, with its narrow fit, the upper is held by an RPU overlays, that glow in the dark after being exposed to UV light. This overlay creates a caged look on the shoe and maintains the sleek structure of the sneaker. The upper itself looks nothing like the previous Yeezy 700 models, as it does not feature any of the material patchworking and has also removed a lot of bulk from the previous ‘dad shoe’ silhouette. The midsole of the Yeezy 700 V3 also does not feature any of the textures seen on the Yeezy 700 V1 and V2 and is now replaced with a smooth midsole that further emphasises Kanye’s love for minimalism.
The last version of the Yeezy 700 to have been released is the Yeezy 700 MNVN. This shoe is made with a completely nylon upper with ‘700’ typography on the outer side of the shoe. The Yeezy 700 MNVN made it full circle back to the vivid colours that was originally featured on the Yeezy 700 V1, as it was released in ultra-bright, vivid, neon colours that engulfed the whole upper of the sneaker. However, the shoe originally released an all-black colourway, but the bright colours were ultimately the ones that took the spotlight for this specific model.
With all the versions of the Yeezy 700, many colourways were still being released for each version, as the new models were coming out, which allowed the Yeezy 700s to continue to be a fan favourite as everyone’s favourite models had a colourway to suit them. Overall, the Yeezy 700 hold a piece of fashion history forever with its progressive and appealing designs.
