Air Jordan 4 Retro SB Pine Green Sneaker Review
What do you get when you mix the basketball and sneaker cultural icon Michael Jordan, with the individuality, creativity and freedom of skateboard culture? You get none other than Nike’s latest flame thrower of a sneaker, the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 Pine Green!
The Pine Green colourway was first seen back in 2009 as part of the Defining Moments Package (DMP Pack) which was a salute to Michael Jordan’s 63 point performance against the Boston Celtics in the ‘86 NBA Playoffs. Even though the Bulls lost that game, Jordan’s brilliance still shone through. With the Pine Green colour originally on a pair of Jordan 1’s, it has now made it to a pair of super clean Jordan 4’s.
Nike has really hit the mark with the materials on this shoe. The premium sail colour leather on the upper is complimented by a soft light grey suede around the edge of the toe box. There are nice hits of Pine Green across the shoe on the midsole, eyelets, back tab and back of the tongue. I’ve always been a sucker for a gum sole after seeing it on a pair of white Air Force 1’s years ago. So when I saw the hits of gum sole on the toe and heel of the outer sole, I was blown away. Add in the red Nike Swoosh logo on the sole and it really sets these Jordan 4’s on fire!
Now onto the real star of show which sets these Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 Pine Greens apart from the others, the Nike SB logo on the heel tab. For me personally, the Jumpman logo on the back of a pair of Jordan 3’s, 4’s, 5’s or 6’s doesn’t really hit the mark. There is something really special about seeing the Nike Swoosh logo on the back of a pair of Air Jordans. The Nike SB logo on the back of the Pine Green Jordan 4’s is an awesome take on the original Nike Swoosh logo. The way the white lettering of the Nike SB logo sits on the Pine Green back tab is such a clean contrast in colours. This means you can see the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 Pine Greens from a mile away! These are up there with the Jordan 4 Bred and Jordan 4 White Cement in my book. There is no way I’m skating in my pair. Thease are the kind of joints that make you walk funny because you refuse to crease the toe box. An absolute must cop for 2023!
