In honour of the year of the snake, the Nike Zoom Kobe 5 Protro ‘Year of the Mamba’ ushers in the Lunar New Year. A golden serpent design encircles the lateral Swoosh of the seamless synthetic upper, which has a purple iridescent finish. An exterior heel counter cradles the rear of the foot, and flywire cables function similarly to synthetic tendons to produce a locked-in fit. With Zoom Air cushioning in the forefoot, this Protro model substitutes Cushlon foam for the lightweight Phylon midsole. The sneaker is supported by a glass/carbon fibre shank plate and a translucent rubber outsole.
