The Air Jordan 1 Mid ‘Banned’ features a recognisable colour scheme that pays homage to the legendary Black/Red AJ1 from 1985, which was incorrectly mythologized as the sneaker that cost Michael Jordan $5,000 every time he wore the two-tone colorway during NBA games. (The Nike Air Ship was the real culprit.) This pair, like its predecessor, has a leather upper with a contrasting black and red finish. With the exception of a splash of red on the reduced eyestay, the colour blocking is essentially identical to the original. On the woven tongue tag, a red Jumpman emblem replaces Nike Air branding.
